On the doorstep of the Entre-deux-Mers: complete garden recomposition
Aesthetic, functional and lasting recomposition: perimeter drainage, sandstone retaining walls and steps, hardwood decking along the house and around the pool, corten steel edging and a bespoke pergola.

The brief
The garden had accumulated a number of issues: ageing landscaping out of step with the house's recent renovation, water infiltration affecting the basement, poorly defined circulation routes, and decking unsuited to how the space was used.
The challenge: to create a structured, comfortable and durable outdoor living space, whilst thoroughly addressing the site's technical issues.
Our response
Substantial groundworks and level management, with a perimeter drain running the full length of the house to permanently resolve the water infiltration. Sandstone retaining walls and landscape sleepers structure the changes in level; sandstone steps and terracing ensure continuity throughout.
Complete replacement of the hardwood decking, along the house and around the pool; corten steel edging for fine, curved lines; a bespoke pergola shading the south-facing façade without darkening the living room. Automatic irrigation, garden lighting, lawn seeding / turfing, planting, mulching and rockwork complete the scheme.
